BARRY ADAMS - B.Eng, Grad Dip Eng Maint, MAICD, MIEAust.

Barry commenced his career in 1974 following the completion of a B.Eng (Elec). He has 5 years hard-rock mining experience and 25 years experience in the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry in a variety of maintenance, operations, project, supervisory and executive management roles in Australia and the United Kingdom. He worked for Esso Australia for 12 years and joined Woodside in 1992. He spent three-years on secondment to Shell Expro in the UK North Sea as Production Support Manager and returned to Woodside in 1995 as the Offshore Operations Manager. In 2000 he was appointed General Manager of the South-Eastern Australia Business Unit based in Melbourne and managed a portfolio of assets including the Geographe/Thylacine discoveries in the Otway Basin. In April 2003 he joined Business Essence as a Director and Business/Management Consultant. During the past 6 years he has led several executive level business reviews for the resource industry and has also undertaken a number of executive level roles, on a project basis, for a wide variety of companies in start-up or turnaround phase. He also provides an ongoing advisory service to a range of small to medium sized companies on business strategy, planning and improvement. Barry is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Society of Petroleum Engineers and Institution of Engineers(Australia), a Director of Business Essence Pty Ltd.

Catherine is an experienced Operations Manager with over 18 years management experience primarily in international risk consultancy and 7 years providing administrative services to major oil and gas operators in the United Kingdom. From 1981 to 1988, she worked for major oil companies in Scotland in a variety of senior administrative roles. In 1988, she joined Det Norske Veritas (DNV) an International Risk Consultancy and was responsible for managing the administration team to develop and maintain effective business systems to support the dynamic nature of the consultancy business. During 1993-1995, she completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies. A transfer to Sydney in 1996 involved a promotion to Operations Manager responsible for the day-to-day operations of the consultancy business across Australia and New Zealand. In 2000, she started her own business and joined in partnership with Business Essence to provide business process development and improvement as well as change implementation services to government agencies, operating and service companies.

Kay has over 15 years experience working in the oil and gas industry for both operating and service companies and 11 years experience running her own business consultancy. She commenced her career with Esso Australia in 1984 and during the next 8-years worked in a variety of executive assistant roles in Victoria and New South Wales. In 1992, she moved to Scotland (UK) and was appointed the Services Coordinator for the start-up of Det Norske Veritas’ international safety and loss control management business where she was responsible for the design and development of systems and procedures to support the business unit. In 1995 she returned to Australia and settled in Perth where she started Business Essence. In 2000 she relocated the business to Melbourne and joined in partnership with Catherine Duncan. Kay has specialist skills in process mapping, design and re-engineering of business processes across a wide range of industries and has over 20 years experience in office and system administration.
